Matthew Forsythe biography

Matthew Forsythe is a Canadian author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He has illustrated several picture books and graphic novels, and his art has appeared in publications such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Forsythe is the author and illustrator of the picture book Poko, and he illustrated My Name Is Elizabeth! by Annika Dunklee, which was published by Kids Can Press.

Forsythe’s book Pokko and the Drum, published by Simon & Schuster/Paula Wiseman Books in 2019, received critical recognition and was named a Best Book of the Year by several publications. He also illustrated The Gold Leaf by Kirsten Hall and Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall. In addition to his work in books, Forsythe has contributed to animated television, including serving as a lead designer for the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time.

In 2020, Pokko and the Drum was named a Charlotte Zolotow Honor Book.
