Vera Ahiyya is a children’s author and educator. She studied at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, where she majored in History and Psychology and earned an MA in Education. She has taught Kindergarten and first grade in Austin, Boston and Brooklyn.
Her work for young children includes the KINDergarten series, illustrated by Joey Chou. KINDergarten: Where Kindness Matters Every Day and Look How Much I’ve Grown in KINDergarten are part of that series.
Ahiyya also writes the Getting Ready series for early years and primary-age readers. Her titles in the series include Getting Ready for Preschool, Getting Ready for Kindergarten, Getting Ready for First Grade, Getting Ready for Second Grade, Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day and Getting Ready for Halloween.
Getting Ready for Halloween, illustrated by Debby Rahmalia, is for ages 3–7 and was published by Random House Books for Young Readers on 12 August 2025.
