Thomas Flintham biography

Thomas Flintham is a British author and illustrator known for his engaging children’s books, particularly the Press Start! series. He grew up in Lincoln, England, and pursued his passion for art by studying Fine Art at De Montfort University in Leicester, followed by a master’s degree in Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts in London.

Flintham’s Press Start! series, published by Scholastic Inc., features the character Super Rabbit Boy and combines elements of video gaming with storytelling. The series has been well-received, with multiple installments published, including Game Over, Super Rabbit Boy! and Super Rabbit Boy Powers Up!.

In addition to writing and illustrating his own books, Flintham has collaborated with other authors. Notably, he illustrated the “Baby Aliens” series written by Pamela Butchart, which includes titles like Baby Aliens Got My Teacher! and The Spy Who Loved School Dinners. The latter won the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Story in 2015.

Flintham’s work has been recognized with several awards. In 2024, he won the FCBG Children’s Book Award for the Press Start! series in the Books for Younger Readers category and also received the overall prize at the ceremony held in Birmingham.

His illustrations are characterized by their vibrant colors and dynamic compositions, appealing to young readers and encouraging engagement with the text.
