Theresa Breslin writes for children and young adults, and before becoming a full-time writer she worked as a librarian. She won the CILIP Carnegie Medal in 1994, and Whispers in the Graveyard won that medal. Her historical fiction includes The Medici Seal, published in 2007, in which Matteo is rescued by Leonardo da Vinci and becomes his apprentice in Renaissance Italy.
Her fiction also includes Divided City, published by Corgi Childrens in 2006, a novel set in Glasgow in which Joe and Graham form a friendship across Catholic and Protestant divisions as the Orange Walks begin. The Dream Master was published in paperback in 1999 and follows Cy as dream life and real life become intertwined through Ancient Egypt. The Dream Master was shortlisted for the Children’s Book Award, and Divided City was shortlisted for ten book awards, winning two outright.
