Terry Denton biography

Terry Denton is an Australian illustrator and author. His work for children includes the Treehouse series with Andy Griffiths, in which Denton provides the illustrations and Griffiths writes the stories.

Denton is the co-creator of the Treehouse series with Andy Griffiths. The first book in the series, The 13-Storey Treehouse, is aimed at readers aged 7 to 11 and uses comic-book-style illustrations throughout the story.

The 78-Storey Treehouse, illustrated by Denton, was published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2017 and is described for readers aged 7 to 11. The book is the fifth volume in the Treehouse series and combines minimal text per page with black-and-white illustrations.

Denton has won more than fifteen children’s choice awards in Australia. The 13-Storey Treehouse won the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Award in 2015, the Lancashire Fantastic Book Award in 2016 and the Coventry Inspiration Award in 2016.

Denton’s other creative work includes fine art, and he has held exhibitions in inner Melbourne. The 52-Storey Treehouse won the Australian Book Industry Awards Book of the Year prize.
