Stephenie Meyer is an American author best known for the internationally successful Twilight series. She attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, and later graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English in 1997. Meyer’s writing career began with the publication of Twilight in 2005 by Little, Brown and Company. The novel quickly gained popularity and was followed by New Moon (2006), Eclipse (2007), and Breaking Dawn (2008), forming the complete Twilight saga.
The Twilight series chronicles the relationship between teenager Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen. The books have sold over 100 million copies worldwide and have been translated into more than 35 languages. The series spent years on bestseller lists, including The New York Times Best Seller list. The novels were adapted into a film series by Summit Entertainment, with the first film released in 2008 and subsequent installments following through 2012.
In addition to the Twilight saga, Meyer published the adult science fiction novel The Host in 2008, which was also adapted into a feature film in 2013. She released The Chemist, a thriller novel for adults, in 2016. Meyer has received several honors for her work, including the Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2009.
In 2020, Meyer published Midnight Sun, a retelling of the events of Twilight from the perspective of Edward Cullen. The book debuted at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list.
