Mickey Rapkin is a journalist and screenwriter. He was previously a senior editor at GQ, and his journalism has appeared in The New York Times, ELLE, Bon Appétit and National Geographic Traveler. He graduated cum laude from Cornell University in 2000.
Rapkin’s first book was Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory, published by Gotham Books in 2008. The nonfiction book follows a season in collegiate a cappella and later inspired the Pitch Perfect film series.
His nonfiction book Theater Geek: The Real Life Drama of a Summer at Stagedoor Manor follows three teen actors through a summer at Stagedoor Manor. Free Press published the trade paperback edition on 15 February 2011.
Rapkin has written picture books for children with illustrator Teresa Martínez. It’s Not a Bed, It’s a Time Machine was published by Imprint on 4 June 2019 for ages 3 to 6, and It’s Not a School Bus, It’s a Pirate Ship was published by Imprint on 16 June 2020 for ages 3 to 6.
