Marisabina Russo is an author and illustrator of books for children. She has written and illustrated picture books including The Line Up Book, Come Back, Hannah! and Always Remember Me: How One Family Survived World War II. The Line Up Book won an International Reading Association Children’s Book Award, and Come Back, Hannah! was named a Charlotte Zolotow Highly Commended book.
Always Remember Me: How One Family Survived World War II was published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers on 1 April 2005. Russo wrote and illustrated the 48-page book, which is based on the survival story of her own grandmother’s family during the Holocaust. Its honours include ALA Notable Children’s Books, ILA Teachers’ Choices, AJL Sydney Taylor Book Award Notable Book and Parents’ Choice Silver Honor Winner.
Russo’s other children’s books include House of Sports, a 192-page novel published by HarperCollins/Greenwillow in March 2002, and The Bunnies Are Not in Their Beds, a picture book written and illustrated by Russo and published by Dragonfly Books in paperback on 12 February 2013. The Bunnies Are Not in Their Beds is aimed at children aged 3 to 7 and uses repeated bedtime sounds and refrains for read-aloud use.
Why Is Everybody Yelling?: Growing Up in My Immigrant Family is Russo’s graphic memoir. Farrar, Straus and Giroux published the 240-page book on 12 October 2021 for readers aged 12 to 18, and Russo both wrote and illustrated it.
