Margaret Wise Brown was a children’s author who lived from 1910 to 1952. She is best known for Goodnight Moon, and she wrote many books for young children with a focus on the simple pleasures of the world around them.
Her books include The Little Island, The Golden Egg Book, The Color Kittens and The Sailor Dog. The Little Island was written under the name Golden MacDonald and illustrated by Leonard Weisgard.
Goodnight Moon is a picture book by Margaret Wise Brown with illustrations by Clement Hurd. The Runaway Bunny, also by Brown and Hurd, was published in 1942 and tells the story of a little bunny and his mother in an imaginative game of verbal hide-and-seek.
Brown’s work has continued to be issued for young readers in many formats, including Little Golden Books and board book editions. Margaret Wise Brown’s The Whispering Rabbit was originally published in the classic Golden Book The Golden Sleepy Book.
