Kimberly Jones biography

Kimberly Jones is an American author and filmmaker whose work includes young adult fiction and nonfiction. She co-authored the young adult novel I’m Not Dying with You Tonight with Gilly Segal, published by Sourcebooks Fire on August 6, 2019.

I’m Not Dying with You Tonight follows Lena and Campbell, two teenage girls who must rely on each other after violence breaks out at a high school football game. The novel became a New York Times bestseller and was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award in 2020.

Jones and Segal also wrote Why We Fly, a young adult novel about two cheerleaders whose friendship is tested after their team kneels during the national anthem. Sourcebooks Fire published Why We Fly on October 5, 2021, and the book was named a Sydney Taylor Notable Book in 2022.

Jones contributed to Game On: 15 Stories of Wins, Losses, and Everything in Between, a young adult anthology edited by Laura Silverman and published by Viking Books for Young Readers on January 18, 2022. Her nonfiction book How We Can Win: Race, History, and Changing the Money Game That’s Rigged was published by Henry Holt and Co. on January 18, 2022.

How We Can Win won the 2022 AAMBC Literary Award for Non-Fiction/Self Help Book of the Year.
