Keith Baker biography

Keith Baker is an American author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. A former elementary school teacher, he published his debut picture book, The Dove’s Letter, in 1988. This title received a Parents’ Choice Award for illustration and established his reputation for distinctive, colorful artwork and engaging storytelling.

Baker is the creator of many popular picture books, including Who Is the Beast?, Hide and Snake, Quack and Count, Big Fat Hen, and Little Green. His Peas series, featuring titles such as LMNO Peas, 1-2-3 Peas, Little Green Peas, Hap-pea All Year, and LMNO Pea-quel, has become especially well-known among young readers and educators.

He also developed the Mr. and Mrs. Green series for early readers, expanding his reach to children at different stages of literacy. Baker’s books are published by major publishers including Harcourt Brace and have been distributed internationally.

In 2005, Baker received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Eastern Oregon University, recognizing his achievements in children’s publishing.
