Kate Milford is an American author known for her contributions to middle-grade fiction, particularly through her intricately connected novels set in the fictional world of Nagspeake. Her work blends elements of mystery, folklore, and fantasy, creating immersive narratives for young readers.

Milford’s debut novel, The Boneshaker, was published in 2010. She followed with titles such as The Broken Lands (2012), The Kairos Mechanism (2012), and The Left-Handed Fate (2016). In 2014, she released Greenglass House, which received the Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery and was long-listed for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. The success of this novel led to sequels including Ghosts of Greenglass House (2017), The Thief Knot (2020), and The Raconteur’s Commonplace Book (2021).

Milford has also written companion novellas like Bluecrowne (2014), expanding the lore of her shared universe. Her books often feature overlapping characters and settings, encouraging readers to explore the interconnected stories in various sequences.
