Kat Leyh biography

Kat Leyh is a writer and artist whose work includes graphic novels and comics. She created the YA graphic novel Snapdragon and wrote and drew Thirsty Mermaids. She has worked on BOOM! Studios series as a cover artist, back-up writer and artist.

Leyh was a cowriter and cover artist for Lumberjanes, an Eisner and GLAAD Award-winning comics series. Her Lumberjanes work includes issues and collected books written with Shannon Watters and other series creators.

Snapdragon is a 240-page children’s graphic novel from First Second for readers aged 10 to 14, published on 4 February 2020. The book is a contemporary fantasy about a young girl, Snap, who befriends Jacks and discovers magic connected with her family’s past.

Snapdragon was an Eisner Award nominee and was also selected for best-books-of-the-year honours by New York Public Library, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal and School Library. Thirsty Mermaids is a 256-page graphic novel by Leyh, published by Gallery 13 in trade paperback on 3 October 2023.
