Kat Ellis biography

Kat Ellis is an award-winning young adult author from North Wales, known for her contributions to YA thrillers and horror fiction. Her debut novel, Blackfin Sky, was published in 2014 by Firefly Press and Running Press Kids. She has since authored several novels, including Breaker (2016), Purge (2016), Harrow Lake (2020), and Wicked Little Deeds (also published as Burden Falls in 2021). Her forthcoming novel, The Devouring Light, is scheduled for release in 2025 by HarperCollins.

Ellis’s work has been recognized by the Junior Library Guild and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), and her books have been translated into multiple languages. She is represented by Molly Ker Hawn at The Bent Agency.

In addition to her writing, Ellis served as a mentor with Literature Wales as part of their Representing Wales programme during 2023–2024. She has also been involved with UKYAbooks, a collective of YA authors from or based in the UK and Ireland.

Her novella, The Twins of Blackfin, appears in the anthology Three Strikes, published by Firefly Press. Ellis’s novels are published by notable houses including Penguin Random House and HarperCollins.

Her latest novel, Wicked Little Deeds (2021), was published by Penguin Random House.
