Julien Chung biography

Julien Chung is a professional designer and illustrator who has worked in the field for more than twenty-five years. He has illustrated picture books for children, including Becoming Blue by Ellen Tarlow, Vrooom, Vrooom! by Mary Lyn Ray, and 365: How to Count a Year by Miranda Paul. He has also created licensed characters for brands worldwide and worked for La Presse newspaper in Montreal, Quebec.

Chung has contributed to the Chicka Chicka picture-book series as an illustrator and author-illustrator. Chicka Chicka Ho Ho Ho, written by William Boniface and illustrated by Chung, was published on 1 October 2024. Chicka Chicka Tricka Treat, written and illustrated by Chung, was published on 15 July 2025.

His other children’s book credits include This Is a Dog Book! by Judith Henderson, Zero Zebras: A Counting Book about What’s Not There by Bruce Goldstone, and You Can’t Tame a Tiger by Stephanie Ellen Sy. Chicka Chicka I Love You, by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault and illustrated by Chung, was published on 2 December 2025.

Chung wrote and illustrated Chicka Chicka Peep Peep, a spring-themed companion to Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Chicka Chicka Peep Peep was published on 20 January 2026.
