Jorge Aguirre biography

Jorge Aguirre is an author and two-time Emmy-nominated animation writer. He co-created and wrote the graphic novel series The Chronicles of Claudette, including Giants Beware!, with illustrator Rafael Rosado.

Giants Beware! is the first book in The Chronicles of Claudette and was published on 10 April 2012. Dragons Beware!, another book in the same series, was written by Aguirre and illustrated by Rafael Rosado, and it received a CCBC Choice honour from the University of Wisconsin.

Aguirre wrote the young adult graphic novel Call Me Iggy, illustrated by Rafael Rosado. The book was published by First Second on 13 February 2024, won the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics, and was selected as a Best Book of the Year by Kirkus Reviews and School Library Journal.

Aguirre also wrote the middle-grade graphic novel series Monster Locker with illustrator Andrés Vera Martínez. Monster Locker, the first volume, was published on 1 October 2024 and follows a sixth-grader named Pablo who discovers that his locker is a portal to the realm of monsters.
