Grant Snider is an American cartoonist, author, and illustrator known for his insightful comics and children’s picture books. Raised in Derby, Kansas, he began drawing and writing at an early age, often collaborating with his twin brother, Gavin. During his time at the University of Kansas, he contributed comics to the student newspaper, which led to his recognition with the Charles M. Schulz Award for College Cartooning in 2008.
In 2009, Snider launched the online comic strip Incidental Comics, featuring reflections on creativity, literature, and the human experience. His work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times Book Review and The New Yorker, and has been compiled into books including The Shape of Ideas (2017), I Will Judge You by Your Bookshelf (2020), The Art of Living (2022), and Thinking About Thinking (2025).
Snider has authored and illustrated several children’s picture books, such as What Color Is Night? (2019), What Sound Is Morning? (2020), One Boy Watching (2022), and My Words (2020). His 2024 release, Poetry Comics, combines verse and illustration, earning recognition as a USA Today Bestseller and a 2025 ALA Notable Book.
In addition to his creative endeavors, Snider practices orthodontics in Wichita, Kansas.
