Christine Virnig biography

Christine Virnig writes fiction and nonfiction for children. She later moved into writing books, reading books and working in a library.

The book is for readers aged 8 to 12 and examines animal dung, urine, vomit and secretions that people have eaten in history and in some cases still eat.

Virnig and illustrator Korwin Briggs continued the Dung for Dinner series with Waist-Deep in Dung: A Stomach-Churning Look at the Grossest Jobs Throughout History, published by Godwin Books on 12 March 2024. The book covers unpleasant jobs from different periods of history, including mummy makers, leech collectors, barber-surgeons and forensic entomologists.

Her middle-grade fiction includes A Bite Above the Rest, published by Aladdin on 6 August 2024. The novel follows Caleb Fisher after he moves to Samhain, a Wisconsin town where every day is treated as Halloween, and it is aimed at readers aged 8 to 12.

Phantom Academy is another middle-grade novel by Christine Virnig and was scheduled for publication on 26 August 2025. The story is about a newly dead boy who enters a spooky new school and faces an unearthly mystery.
