Amber McBride biography

Amber McBride is an American author and poet known for her work in young adult literature. She holds an MFA from Emerson College and has taught English and creative writing at the university level. McBride’s writing often explores themes of identity, mental health, and folklore, drawing on her experiences and cultural heritage.

Her debut novel, Me (Moth), was published by Feiwel & Friends in 2021. The book is a novel-in-verse that follows the story of a teen girl navigating grief and self-discovery. Me (Moth) received critical recognition and was named a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.

McBride’s second novel, We Are All So Good at Smiling, was published by Feiwel & Friends in 2023. This work also uses verse to address topics such as depression, friendship, and the healing power of storytelling. In addition to her novels, McBride has published poetry in various literary journals.

Amber McBride’s Me (Moth) was a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.
