Abi Cushman biography

Abi Cushman is a children’s author-illustrator whose books include Soaked!, Animals Go Vroom!, Wombats Are Pretty Weird and Flamingos Are Pretty Funky. She has also illustrated The Quiet Forest by Charlotte Offsay.

Cushman has loved drawing and painting since childhood. She studied art and art history at Tufts University, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the University of Melbourne in Australia.

Soaked! was published by Viking Books for Young Readers on 14 July 2020 and is a 40-page picture book for ages 3 to 7. The book features Bear, Badger, Rabbit and Moose in a rainy-day story, and it was a Top Ten Summer 2020 Kids’ Indie Next List pick.

Animals Go Vroom! was published by Viking Books for Young Readers on 24 August 2021 and is a 36-page picture book for ages 2 to 5. The book uses die-cuts to turn animal and vehicle sounds into page-turn surprises.

Wombats Are Pretty Weird: A (Not So) Serious Guide was published by HarperCollins on 23 May 2023 and is a 40-page nonfiction picture book for ages 4 to 8. Flamingos Are Pretty Funky: A (Not So) Serious Guide was published by HarperCollins on 4 June 2024 and is a 40-page companion title for ages 4 to 8.
