Wendy Parris biography

Wendy Parris writes spooky novels for children, tweens and teens. She studied film at Northwestern University and, after graduation, acted in small Chicago theatres, performed improvised comedy and worked freelance in public relations. Her debut novel, Field of Screams, was a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection.

Field of Screams was published by Delacorte Press on 1 August 2023. The book is a supernatural mystery for readers aged 8–12 about twelve-year-old Rebecca Graff, who investigates a ghostly presence at an abandoned farmhouse and discovers a link to her late father’s childhood.

Stage Fright was published by Delacorte Press on 17 September 2024. The book is a middle-grade locked-room scary story for readers aged 8–12 about thirteen-year-old Avery, who plans a séance at a deserted theatre and becomes trapped inside with her friends. Stage Fright was a 2025 Illinois Reads pick.
