Recommended reading books for elementary, middle & high school students
Theresa Breslin is a Scottish author known for her work in children’s and young adult literature. She has written numerous novels that explore historical, contemporary, and fantasy themes. Breslin’s books often address social issues and are set in a variety of time periods, reflecting her interest in history and storytelling.
Breslin’s debut novel, Simon’s Challenge, was published in 1988. She has since written a range of titles for young readers, including Whispers in the Graveyard, which won the Carnegie Medal in 1994. Her historical novels include Remembrance, set during World War I, and The Medici Seal, which explores the Renaissance period. Breslin has also written contemporary stories such as Divided City, which examines sectarianism in Glasgow.
In addition to her novels, Breslin has contributed to anthologies and written picture books. Her work has been recognized with several awards and honors, and she has participated in literacy initiatives and school events. Breslin’s novel Whispers in the Graveyard received the Carnegie Medal in 1994.
