Shing Yin Khor is a Malaysian-American artist, cartoonist, and writer known for their work in graphic novels and comics. Khor’s creative projects often explore themes of identity, migration, and belonging, drawing on personal and cultural experiences. Their work has appeared in various publications and anthologies, and they are recognized for their distinctive visual storytelling style.

Khor is the author and illustrator of The American Dream? A Journey on Route 66 Discovering Dinosaur Statues, Muffler Men, and the Perfect Breakfast Burrito, published by Zest Books in 2019. This graphic memoir documents a cross-country road trip along Route 66, blending travelogue, history, and personal reflection. Khor’s art and narrative approach have been noted for their focus on the immigrant experience and the American landscape.

In addition to their memoir, Khor created the middle grade graphic novel The Legend of Auntie Po, published by Kokila in 2021. The story reimagines the legend of Paul Bunyan through the lens of a Chinese American protagonist in a nineteenth-century Sierra Nevada logging camp. The Legend of Auntie Po was recognized as a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.
