Sara Quin biography

Sara Quin is a Canadian songwriter and author best known as one half of the duo Tegan and Sara. In addition to recording and touring, she writes for young readers with her twin, Tegan Quin, expanding their storytelling beyond music into books for schools and libraries.

With Tegan Quin and cartoonist Tillie Walden, she co-authored the middle-grade graphic novels Junior High and Crush, which reimagine the twins’ first year of middle school and the friendships, family dynamics, and creative beginnings that shape their path. The books are positioned for grades 4–8 and present realistic, age-appropriate themes for classroom discussion and independent reading.

Quin also co-wrote the memoir High School, which traces the sisters’ early life in music and has been used in secondary-level courses exploring identity, the arts, and narrative nonfiction. Beyond publishing, she supports youth-focused literacy and arts initiatives through speaking, outreach, and educational appearances connected to her music career.
