Recommended reading books for elementary, middle & high school students
Rosemarie Somaiah is a Singaporean author and storyteller known for her contributions to children’s literature and the promotion of oral storytelling. She has written books for young readers, including Indian Children’s Favourite Stories, published by Tuttle Publishing in 2006. Somaiah is also recognized for her work as a storyteller, conducting workshops and performances in schools, libraries, and community settings. She is a founding member of the Asian Storytelling Network, which focuses on sharing and preserving storytelling traditions in Singapore and the region. Somaiah’s work often draws on folktales and cultural heritage, aiming to engage children with stories from diverse backgrounds. Her book Indian Children’s Favourite Stories was published in 2006.
