Robert Sae-Heng biography

Robert Sae-Heng is a children’s book illustrator and artist whose work appears in picture books and illustrated nonfiction for young readers. He earned a BA in Illustration from the University for the Creative Arts and works across mixed media, combining hand-drawn elements with digital finishing.

Sae-Heng’s first children’s book credit was as illustrator of The One Thing You’d Save by Newbery Medalist Linda Sue Park, a short novel-in-verse for middle grade readers. He later illustrated Park’s companion title Just One Gift. His drawings for these books use expressive black-and-white artwork to support the classroom-friendly texts.

Beyond fiction, Sae-Heng collaborates on hands-on art and design titles for families and schools. With Joséphine Seblon, he contributes artwork to Thames & Hudson’s activity-led series that includes Mini Artists, Mini Architects, and Mini Designers, which introduce children to creative concepts through step-by-step projects.
