Rex Ogle is an American author known for his work in children’s and young adult literature. He has written both fiction and nonfiction, often drawing on personal experiences to inform his stories. Ogle is the author of the memoir Free Lunch, which was published by Norton Young Readers in 2019. The book recounts his experiences growing up in poverty and navigating the challenges of middle school. Free Lunch received critical recognition and was named a 2020 YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults finalist.

Ogle has also written Punching Bag, a follow-up memoir published in 2021, which explores his experiences with family and resilience. In addition to his memoirs, Ogle has authored several middle grade and young adult novels, including the Supernatural Society series and the Quarantine series. He has contributed to graphic novels and has written under pen names for various series.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Ogle worked as an editor for major publishers, including Scholastic and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. His editorial work included developing and editing books for children and teens.
