Ranjan Somaiah is a children’s book illustrator credited for Indian Children’s Favorite Stories, a collection of eight folktales retold by Rosemarie Somaiah and published by Tuttle in 2006. Library of Congress records list him as the book’s illustrator, and some catalogues cite his name in the form “B. Ranjan Somaiah.”
Indian Children’s Favorite Stories gathers well-known Indian tales—such as episodes from the lives of Krishna and Rama and stories featuring Tenali Raman—adapted for young readers. The volume forms part of Tuttle’s “Children’s Favorite Stories” series and has remained in print, including later reissues with an added subtitle.
Somaiah’s illustration credit on this title places his work within an internationally distributed series designed to introduce traditional narratives to contemporary children’s audiences.
