Rafe Martin is an American author and storyteller known for his contributions to children’s literature and folklore retellings. He has written numerous picture books and story collections, often drawing on traditional tales from various cultures. Martin’s works include retellings of folktales, legends, and myths, with a particular focus on stories from Native American and Buddhist traditions.

Among his notable books are The Rough-Face Girl, a retelling of a Native American Cinderella story, and The Boy Who Loved Mammoths. He has also authored Birdwing, Will’s Mammoth, and Endless Path: Awakening Within the Buddhist Imagination. Martin’s books have been illustrated by artists such as David Shannon and Susan Gaber.

In addition to his writing, Martin is recognized for his work as a professional storyteller, performing at schools, libraries, and conferences. He has received several awards for his contributions to children’s literature, including the Anne Izard Storytellers’ Choice Award.
