Pierce Brown biography

Pierce Brown is an American author known for writing young adult and science fiction novels. He is the author of the Red Rising series, which began with the publication of Red Rising in 2014 by Del Rey Books. Brown attended Pepperdine University, where he studied political science and economics. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked in a variety of jobs, including as a manager at NBC and as an aide on a U.S. Senate campaign.

The Red Rising series includes several titles, such as Golden Son (2015), Morning Star (2016), Iron Gold (2018), and Dark Age (2019). The books are set in a dystopian future and follow the story of Darrow, a member of a lower caste who seeks to challenge the societal hierarchy. Brown’s work has been recognized with awards, including the 2015 Goodreads Choice Award for Science Fiction for Golden Son.

In addition to his novels, Brown has contributed to graphic novels, including Red Rising: Sons of Ares, which expands on the universe of his main series. His books have been published by Del Rey, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The most recent book in the series, Light Bringer, was published in 2023.
