Patricia Toht biography

Patricia Toht is a children’s writer whose career grew from running a children’s bookshop called Never Never Land. She has written picture books and has also contributed fiction, non-fiction and poetry to children’s magazines. Pick a Pine Tree was her debut picture book, with illustrations by Jarvis.

Her picture books with Jarvis include Pick a Pine Tree, Pick a Pumpkin, Pick a Perfect Egg and Together With You. Her other children’s books include All Aboard the London Bus, illustrated by Sam Usher, and Taxi, Go!, illustrated by Maria Karipidou.

Pick a Pine Tree was published by Candlewick on 19 September 2017, and a Walker Books paperback edition followed on 4 October 2018. The book is part of the Pick A Celebration series and is a rhyming picture book about choosing and decorating a Christmas tree.

Her work for young readers includes seasonal and city-themed picture books, with publication milestones including Pick a Pumpkin on 9 July 2019, Pick a Perfect Egg and Together With You on 14 February 2023, and Taxi, Go! on 13 February 2024.
