Oliver Averill biography

Oliver Averill is a children’s book illustrator and author. A graduate of Falmouth University with a degree in illustration, he works primarily on picture books and nonfiction for young readers, often drawing on historical subjects and textured, atmospheric artwork.

Averill’s illustration credits include The World Around Me by Charlotte Guillain (Words & Pictures/Quarto, 2020), the educational title We Will Remember Them: The Story of Remembrance (Franklin Watts/Hachette, 2021), and Luis de Torres Sails to Freedom by Tami Lehman-Wilzig (Kar-Ben/Lerner, 2023). He also illustrated Flow with the Snow by Robert Tregoning (Oxford University Press, 2024), a picture book introducing the water cycle for early elementary readers.

As an author-illustrator, Averill created The Boy from the Moon, a picture book project published in simplified Chinese by Yeehoo Press (2020). His portfolio shows additional picture-book and editorial work for publishers and literacy organizations.
