Nic Stone biography

Nic Stone is an American author known for her work in young adult and middle grade fiction. She attended Spelman College, where she earned a degree in psychology. Stone began her writing career after working in teen mentoring and traveling extensively, experiences that influenced her storytelling and themes.

Her debut novel, Dear Martin, was published by Crown Books for Young Readers in 2017. The book explores issues of race, identity, and social justice, following the story of a Black teenager who writes letters to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Stone has since written several other novels, including Odd One Out (2018), Jackpot (2019), and Clean Getaway (2020), the latter of which is a middle grade novel published by Crown Books for Young Readers.

Stone has also contributed to anthologies and written for younger readers, including the Shuri series, which is set in the Marvel universe and centers on the character Shuri from Black Panther. Her works often address contemporary social issues and aim to provide representation for marginalized voices.

In 2020, Nic Stone’s novel Clean Getaway was published by Crown Books for Young Readers.
