Natasha Donovan biography

Natasha Donovan is a Canadian illustrator known for her work in children’s and young adult literature, particularly graphic novels and picture books. She is a member of the Métis Nation of British Columbia. Donovan holds a degree in anthropology from the University of British Columbia.

Her illustration work includes contributions to the graphic novel series Surviving the City, written by Tasha Spillett, which explores the experiences of Indigenous youth. Donovan has also illustrated the picture book The Sockeye Mother by Hetxw’ms Gyetxw (Brett D. Huson), part of the Mothers of Xsan series published by HighWater Press. Her illustrations often focus on themes related to Indigenous culture, community, and the natural world.

Donovan’s work has appeared in other books such as Classified: The Secret Career of Mary Golda Ross, Cherokee Aerospace Engineer by Traci Sorell and Borders by Thomas King. She has also contributed to anthologies and comics, including This Place: 150 Years Retold, a graphic novel anthology published by HighWater Press in 2019.

In 2021, Donovan illustrated Borders by Thomas King, published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
