Michael Grant is an American author of young adult fiction, recognized for his extensive contributions to the genre. Born in Los Angeles in 1954, Grant has authored over 160 books, many co-written with his wife, Katherine Applegate. Together, they created the Animorphs and Everworld series.

Grant is the sole author of several notable series, including Gone, BZRK, Messenger of Fear, and Front Lines. The Gone series, beginning in 2008, explores a world where everyone over the age of 14 disappears, leaving young people to navigate a new reality. The series has been praised for its compelling narrative and complex characters.

Raised in a military family, Grant attended ten schools across five states and three in France. This transient upbringing influenced his decision to pursue writing, a career that allowed for flexibility and creativity. He has lived in nearly 50 homes across 14 states.

Grant’s work has been recognized for its impact on young adult literature. His books have been translated into multiple languages, reaching a global audience. The Gone series, in particular, has sold millions of copies worldwide.
