Matthew J. Kirby is an American author known for writing middle grade and young adult fiction. He holds a master’s degree in school psychology. Kirby’s debut novel, The Clockwork Three, was published by Scholastic Press in 2010. He has since written several other books, including Icefall, which was published in 2011 by Scholastic Press and received the Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery in 2012. Kirby is also the author of The Lost Kingdom, The Arctic Code (the first book in the Dark Gravity Sequence), and contributed to the Infinity Ring series with Infinity Ring Book 5: Cave of Wonders. In addition, he has written novels for the Assassin’s Creed series, including Assassin’s Creed: Last Descendants. Kirby’s work often explores themes of adventure, history, and science. His novel A Taste for Monsters was published by Scholastic Press in 2016.
