Laurie Keller is an American author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She studied illustration at the Kendall College of Art and Design in Michigan. Keller began her career as a greeting card artist at Hallmark before transitioning to writing and illustrating books for children.
Keller’s debut picture book, The Scrambled States of America, was published in 1998 by Henry Holt and Company. The book uses humor and playful illustrations to introduce young readers to the geography of the United States. She has since written and illustrated several other picture books, including Arnie the Doughnut (2003), Open Wide: Tooth School Inside (2000), and Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners (2007).
In addition to her own books, Keller has illustrated works by other authors, such as Potato Pants! (2018). Her distinctive style often features lively characters and visual puns, making her books popular in educational settings.
Laurie Keller received the 2017 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for her book We Are Growing!, which was published by Hyperion Books in 2016.
