Kimberly (Latrice) Jones is an American author and filmmaker best known for co-authoring the young adult novel I’m Not Dying with You Tonight with Gilly Segal. Published in 2019 by Sourcebooks Fire, the book became a New York Times bestseller and was a finalist for the 2020 NAACP Image Award. Film rights were optioned in 2020.
Jones and Segal reunited for Why We Fly (Sourcebooks Fire, 2021), a contemporary YA novel about friendship, sports, and protest. The title was named a Sydney Taylor Book Award Notable. Beyond fiction, Jones wrote the nonfiction work How We Can Win: Race, History, and Changing the Money Game That’s Rigged (Henry Holt, 2022), which expands on themes from her widely shared 2020 video “How Can We Win.”
Before publishing, Jones worked in bookselling and community literary programming. Her public speaking and media work include appearances discussing youth literature and social justice. In 2020 she signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
Jones’s books appear on school and library lists for classroom discussion of civic engagement, equity, and friendship dynamics. Across her projects she focuses on accessible storytelling for teen readers, collaboration with educators, and creating opportunities for candid conversation about contemporary issues.
