Kalynn Bayron biography

Kalynn Bayron is a New York Times and Indie bestselling author known for her work in young adult and middle grade fiction. Her debut novel, Cinderella Is Dead, was published by Bloomsbury YA in 2020. The book reimagines the Cinderella story in a dystopian society and received recognition including the Books Are My Bag Readers Award for Young Adult Fiction and inclusion on several best-of-the-year lists.

Bayron is also the author of the This Poison Heart duology, which incorporates elements of Greek mythology and botanical magic. Her horror novel You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight was released in 2023. She contributed the novella My Dear Henry: A Jekyll & Hyde Remix to the Remixed Classics series, offering a queer reimagining of the original story. In middle grade, she created The Vanquishers series, beginning with the 2022 title The Vanquishers and continuing with Secret of the Reaping.

Her writing has earned multiple nominations, including the Bram Stoker Award and the Locus Award. In 2022, she received the Randall Kenan Award for Black LGBTQ fiction.

Bayron is a classically trained vocalist and has a background in musical theater. She grew up in Anchorage, Alaska.
