K. O’Neill is a New Zealand-based author and illustrator known for their work in graphic novels and children’s literature. O’Neill is recognized for creating stories that often explore themes of kindness, inclusivity, and gentle adventure. Their most notable work is the graphic novel series The Tea Dragon Society, which began with the publication of the first book by Oni Press in 2017. The series includes The Tea Dragon Society, The Tea Dragon Festival, and The Tea Dragon Tapestry.
O’Neill’s books are characterized by their distinctive art style and focus on positive, affirming narratives. In addition to the Tea Dragon series, O’Neill has authored and illustrated other works such as Princess Princess Ever After and Astronauts: Women on the Final Frontier. Their work has been recognized with several awards, including the Eisner Award for Best Publication for Kids (ages 9–12) for The Tea Dragon Society in 2018.
