Julie Beer biography

Julie Beer writes children’s nonfiction and is a long-standing contributor to National Geographic Kids. Her work includes animal, science, outdoor and fact-based titles for young readers, including Penguins vs. Puffins, Piglets vs. Pugs, Get Outside Guide and Ultimate Explorer Field Guide: Birds.

Beer has written multiple books in the Weird But True! and 5,000 Awesome Facts series. She also wrote Brain Candy: Seriously Sweet Facts to Satisfy Your Curiosity, a 208-page National Geographic Kids book for ages 8–12, published on 8 October 2019.

National Geographic Kids Why? Animals: 99+ Awesome Answers for Curious Kids, by Julie Beer and National Geographic Kids, is a 192-page children’s nonfiction book for ages 8–12 and grades 3–7. It was published by National Geographic Kids on 20 September 2022 and was a 2023 IRA CBC Children’s Choice selection.

Her later children’s books include Kids vs. Plastic, published in the children’s category on 3 November 2020, and Yes! No? Maybe So…, by Julie Beer and Paige Towler, published in the children’s category on 9 July 2024.
