Julia Denos biography

Julia Denos is an American author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She has illustrated and written several picture books, often focusing on themes of nature, imagination, and self-discovery. Denos studied illustration at the Art Institute of Boston. Her illustration work includes collaborations with other authors, as well as books she has both written and illustrated.

Among her notable works as an author and illustrator is Windows, written by Denos and illustrated by E. B. Goodale, published by Candlewick Press in 2017. The book received recognition as a Boston Globe–Horn Book Award Honor Book. Denos has also written and illustrated Swatch: The Girl Who Loved Color, published by Balzer + Bray in 2016. In addition to her solo projects, she has illustrated books such as Just Being Dalí: The Story of Artist Salvador Dalí by Amy Guglielmo and Starcrossed, which she both wrote and illustrated.

Julia Denos’s work has been featured by major publishers including Candlewick Press, Balzer + Bray, and HarperCollins. Her picture book Windows was named a Boston Globe–Horn Book Award Honor Book in 2018.
