John Patrick Green is an American author and illustrator known for his work in children’s graphic novels. He began his career illustrating books and comics, and has contributed to several projects as both writer and artist. Green is the creator of the InvestiGators series, which features alligator detectives Mango and Brash as they solve mysteries. The first book in the series, InvestiGators, was published by First Second Books in 2020. The series has expanded to include multiple sequels, such as InvestiGators: Take the Plunge and InvestiGators: Off the Hook.

Before launching the InvestiGators series, Green worked on other graphic novels, including Hippopotamister, also published by First Second Books. He has collaborated with other creators, such as Dave Roman, on projects like the Teen Boat! series. Green’s work is recognized for its humor and appeal to young readers, and he frequently participates in school visits and events to promote literacy and graphic novels.

In 2023, Green published InvestiGators: All Tide Up with First Second Books, continuing the adventures of his popular characters.
