Jenny Han biography

Jenny Han is an American author known for her work in young adult and children’s literature. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from The New School. Han’s debut novel, Shug, was published in 2006 and is a middle-grade book about the challenges of growing up.

Han is widely recognized for her young adult trilogies. Her first, The Summer I Turned Pretty series, began with the publication of The Summer I Turned Pretty in 2009, followed by It’s Not Summer Without You (2010) and We’ll Always Have Summer (2011). The series explores themes of family, friendship, and first love.

She is also the author of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, which includes To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2014), P.S. I Still Love You (2015), and Always and Forever, Lara Jean (2017). The books follow the story of Lara Jean Covey, a high school student whose secret love letters are accidentally sent out, leading to unexpected changes in her life.

In addition to her solo work, Han co-wrote the Burn for Burn trilogy with Siobhan Vivian, which includes Burn for Burn (2012), Fire with Fire (2013), and Ashes to Ashes (2014).

Jenny Han’s novel P.S. I Still Love You won the 2015-2016 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature in the Young Adult category.
