Jennifer Lynn Barnes is an American author and academic renowned for her contributions to young adult literature. She has written over a dozen novels, including the bestselling The Inheritance Games series. Barnes holds advanced degrees in psychology, psychiatry, and cognitive science, having earned her Ph.D. from Yale University in 2012. She also studied at the University of Cambridge as a Fulbright Scholar. Currently, she serves as an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma, with appointments in both psychology and professional writing.

Barnes began writing at a young age and completed her first novel during her senior year of high school. She sold her first five books while still in college. Her debut novel, Golden, was published when she was nineteen. Since then, she has authored several series, including The Naturals, The Fixer, and The Debutantes, as well as standalone novels like The Lovely and the Lost.

The Inheritance Games series, launched in 2020, follows teenager Avery Grambs as she navigates a complex inheritance left by a billionaire.
