James Burks biography

James Burks is an American author and illustrator known for his work in children’s graphic novels and picture books. He began his career as an animator, contributing to feature films such as The Iron Giant and Space Jam. Burks later transitioned to creating books for young readers, both as an illustrator and as an author-illustrator.

He is the creator of the popular graphic novel series Bird & Squirrel, published by Scholastic Graphix. The series follows the adventures of two unlikely friends, Bird and Squirrel, as they travel and face various challenges together. The first book in the series, Bird & Squirrel On The Run!, was published in 2012. The series has since expanded to include several sequels, such as Bird & Squirrel On Ice, Bird & Squirrel On the Edge!, and Bird & Squirrel All Tangled Up.

In addition to the Bird & Squirrel series, Burks has illustrated and written other children’s books, including Gabby & Gator and Beep and Bob. His work is recognized for its humor, expressive characters, and accessible storytelling style.

James Burks’s book Bird & Squirrel On The Run! was published by Scholastic Graphix in 2012.
