Harriet Muncaster is a children’s author and illustrator. She studied illustration at Norwich University College of the Arts and then completed an MA in children’s book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. She holds two degrees in illustration.
Her picture books include I Am a Witch’s Cat and Happy Halloween, Witch’s Cat!. I Am a Witch’s Cat was published by HarperCollins on 22 July 2014, with Muncaster as both author and illustrator. For its artwork, she made three-dimensional miniature scenes using paper, fabric, beads and other materials, then photographed them for the finished pages.
Isadora Moon was Muncaster’s first chapter-book series. Isadora Moon Goes to School was published by Oxford University Press in 2016 and is a fantasy chapter book for young readers aged about five to eight. The story introduces Isadora, a child whose mother is a fairy and whose father is a vampire, as she tries both fairy school and vampire school before looking for a place where difference is accepted.
Muncaster also created Victoria Stitch, a fantasy series for older primary readers. Victoria Stitch: Bad and Glittering was published by Oxford University Press in 2020 and follows Victoria Stitch, a wiskling from Wiskling Wood, alongside her twin sister Celestine. The Diary of Wiska Wildflower: The New School was published by Oxford University Press in 2025 and expands the Wiskling Wood setting through a diary-format story for readers aged about seven to nine.
