Hanna Luechtefeld biography

Hanna Luechtefeld is an American illustrator and designer whose work includes graphic novels and picture books for young readers. Luechtefeld illustrated The Secret Garden: A Graphic Novel, adapted by Mariah Marsden and published by Andrews McMeel Publishing in 2021 for ages 8–12 and grades 2–6. The book forms part of a retold-classics program distributed by Simon & Schuster. Luechtefeld’s artwork also appears in the omnibus Graphic Novel Classics: The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, and Heidi.

In addition to graphic novels, Luechtefeld illustrated the STEM-focused picture book The Inventor in the Pink Pajamas by David and Emberli Pridham (Weeva, 2020), the first title in the “If Not You, Then Who?” series introducing inventions and the patent process to early elementary readers.

Publisher biographies note an early interest in storytelling through drawing and independent comics. Luechtefeld earned degrees in Graphic Design and Illustration from the University of Central Missouri in 2019 and has maintained an active practice that includes zines and DIY comics alongside trade publishing assignments.
