Recommended reading books for elementary, middle & high school students
Grace Lin is an American author and illustrator known for her contributions to children’s literature, particularly picture books, early readers, and middle grade novels. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, where she studied illustration. Lin’s work often draws on her Taiwanese heritage and explores themes of family, culture, and identity.
Her debut picture book, The Ugly Vegetables, was published in 1999. Since then, Lin has written and illustrated numerous books, including Dim Sum for Everyone!, Ling & Ting: Not Exactly the Same!, and A Big Mooncake for Little Star. She is also the author of the middle grade novel Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, which was published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in 2009.
Lin’s books have received recognition for their storytelling and illustration. Where the Mountain Meets the Moon was awarded a Newbery Honor in 2010.
