Fiona Waters biography

Fiona Waters is a British author, anthologist, and editor known for her contributions to children’s literature, particularly in the field of poetry anthologies. Over her career, Waters has compiled and edited numerous collections of poetry for young readers, working with a wide range of poets and illustrators. Her anthologies often focus on themes such as animals, seasons, and the natural world.

Waters has collaborated with several publishers, including Nosy Crow and Candlewick Press. Among her notable works is I Am the Seed That Grew the Tree: A Nature Poem for Every Day of the Year, published by Nosy Crow in 2018. This anthology, illustrated by Frann Preston-Gannon, features 366 poems and has been recognized for its scope and design.

In addition to her editorial work, Waters has written original books for children and has been involved in promoting poetry in schools and libraries. Her anthologies are widely used in educational settings to introduce children to classic and contemporary poetry.

Fiona Waters received the CLiPPA (Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award) in 2019 for I Am the Seed That Grew the Tree.
